If you are in the process of designing your first website, you may be looking for a free html editor.  There are lots of fancy programs that can cost you thousands of dollars, but is there any products out there that will get your website up and running for free?  Absolutely!

First, you may want to take a look at WordPress.  WorPress is a free content management system that is typically used for blogging.  However, WordPress is a very powerful tool that can be used to generate basic webpages, corporate sites, e-commerce sites, sales pages, squeeze pages, landing pages; you name it WordPress can be custumized to do it.

However, if you don’t want to mess with the html code; WordPress should probably just be used for a basic blog or static website.

If you are looking for an actual HTML editor that has a WSIWYG editor, then PageBreeze is a good option.  PageBreeze is completely free and available for immediate dowload.  It allows you to use a WSIWYG editor in one tab and check the html code in another.  You can also edit your css stylesheets right in the same program.  This can save you lots of time if you are trying to do a simple tweak of the look and feel of your site.

Another great feature is that you can check what the page will actually look at in Internet Explorer before you load it up to your server.  This is great because sometimes you site will look slightly different in an editor and an internet browser.  Now you can know before you make the final version.

Overall, there are really a ton of free html editors, and I can see no reason why you would pay for one.  Unless you are a professional designer, using WordPress or PageBreeze will probably meet your needs.

Okay, so maybe you have heard about submitting your RSS feed to RSS submission sites; but thought, “What’s the point?”  Well, I hope to discuss some of the issues surounding this topic and hopefully provide a few answers.

First of all, your RSS feed is updated automatically, everytime your website is updated.  This article is not about how to set up an RSS feed, so hopefully you have that already done for your site.  The fact that it is automatically updated is the key to everything.  So, essentially when you get your feed listed on another site, this site provides a backlink to each of your articles posted!

If you Google, “list of RSS Submission sites” or something similar, you should be able to find a nice list of sites that will allow you to submit your feed to.  Once you have gone through and done this once, you should never have to do it again.  So, there are lots of paid services out there that will submit your site automatically to dozens of RSS sites; it may not be worth it.  If you take the time to do it for yourself once; these feeds will be updated automatically everytime you update your own site.

What I like to do to provide some extra value to these submissions is to socially bookmark the feeds as well.  So, lets say you submit your feed to Feedest.com.  The link where your feed is listed will be something like feedest.com/yourfeed.  You will take this URL feedest.com/yourfeed and submit it to as many social bookmarking sites as you can.  This will ensure that your feed submissions are indexed by Google and will provide higher link value to your site.

These will indeed provide some SEO value to your site.  Will it bring hoards of traffic? Probably not.  But it will create an environment that is more likely to get your site indexed, linked to, and more likely to do better in the search engines.

So, RSS submissions are not a fix all wonder for SEO; it does provide some value, so is worth spending the time doing.

Does submitting one video to dozens of video sites help you get more traffic?  And do these videos actually provide some sort of Search Engine Optimization value to your website?  These are a couple of questions that I wanted to take a brief look at today.

First, of all Video marketing for your websites is getting more and more popular today.  You will get higher conversions on your landing page with a video, and many people prefer to learn through watching rather than reading.  So, any video at all is probably a good move for your business.  But does mass video submissions actually help?

There are lots of free video submission services available, and if you are submitting lots of videos, I believe it is worth taking a look at.  YouTube will hands down get you the most traffic.  Unfortunately, the link from YouTube is a “no follow” link, so it will provide zero SEO value.  However, many of the free video submission sites that you will send your video to, will have a “do follow” link and therefore, you can actually help the overall rank of your site by submitting to these sites.

I can also tell you from personal experience that by simply submitting your video to YouTube, you video will get picked up by a few other video sites.  I have a video that has been watched about 500,000 times on YouTube and it is also listed on several other sites for which I did nothing to get it there.

This video has indeed brought me lots of traffic; although, this traffic does not convert at a very high rate.  However, if you are able to create a highly targeted video that meets that specific needs of your niche, I would expect conversion rates to rival that of other sources.

Another service that will submit your videos to several of the top video sites (including YouTube) is SE Nuke.  I recently did a full review of SE Nuke, which you can check out right here.

So, overall video marketing works.  If you target your videos you will get some good traffic and some loyal customers.  And finally mass submission of videos does have some value, but probably won’t miraculously push your site to the top of Google.

Se Nuke is a piece of software that claims to zap your website to the top of Google and send you hoards of traffic by doing so.  Can these claims possibly be true?  I am going to take a look at what SE Nuke claims in its sales letter and provide some toned down (non-hyped) analysis.  Please note, that I do not own this software; however, I do own several pieces of similar software and I will be able to tell you what would happen if the software accomplishes what it says.

On the sales page for SE Nuke, it claims to have 5 domination weapons that will catapult you to online success!  Sounds pretty hyped up, but I guess that is the point of a sales page; so lets look at these 5 “weapons”.

Domination Weapon #1

This appears to be a competitive analysis research tool.  You will still have to find your own keywords as it does not appear to have a keyword generation tool.  (Correction: SE Nuke DOES have a keyword generation tool as well). However, once you find your keywords, SE Nuke claims to, “Easily Determine What Your Chances Are of Dominating The Search Engines For A Specific Keyword, By Examining The Number And Location Of Web 2.0, Video, RSS and Social Bookmarking Sites in the Search Engine Results!”

Okay, this does sound helpful.  It is true that if the top rankings in Google are from some of the types of sites listed, they tend to be easier to rank over.  However, you could also see this pretty quickly just by typing your keyword into Google.  So, in order for the particular weapon to be helpful, it would need to handle a large group of keywords all at once, as this would save huge amounts of manual search time.

So, overall this weapon appears to be useful as it will allow you to know how likely you will be able to rank in a particular niche before you go into it.  This is something that you can do without the tool; but SE Nuke will save quite a bit of time here.

Domination Weapon #2

Automagically create blogs, hubs, articles and wikis at 13 HIGH PR, HIGH Authority Web 2.0 sites that Google is absolutely in LOVE with.

Overall, this appears to be a time saver.  You will still have to write all your articles, but it will be submitted to 13 websites (article directories essentially).  There are way more powerful article submission tools, but this is one small part of SE Nuke.  Also, article spinning is VERY useful, so this is great feature.  You could easily spend $97 for just an article submitter and article spinning software.  So, this is interesting as well.

Domination Weapon #3

Instant video submission to the top 14 (and growing regularly…) video websites on the Internet

“Spin” the video titles and descriptions to trick Google into thinking they each video was submitted by a different person! (No other software can do this as well as SEnuke)

Gain an instant 14 HIGH PR Backlinks and enjoy targetted traffic from these incredibly busy video websites!

Okay, video submission are useful; however, this tool is not that impressive.  There are free video submission tools out there that will submit to way more video sites.  So, while video submissions will help your rankings; you can get more powerful software from a free version.  However, this is a nice part of an overall package.  So, while stand alone this domination weapon is not that impressive, it does add value to SE Nuke overall.

Domination Weapon #4

Instant social bookmarking to the top 22 (and growing regularly…) social bookmarking websites on the Internet!

I can tell you from personal experience that social bookmarking can be effective.  The 22 sites that it submits to will get your site indexed almost immediately and will generate some high PR backlinks.  However, again, this weapon by itself is not that powerful.  If you want an excellent social bookmarking tool, then you need to go with BookMarking Demon.  This will submit to hundreds of social bookmarking sites, PLUS you can add hundreds of your own AND you can ping all of those submissions (plus many other features).

However, as part of a package deal, submitting to 22 social bookmarking sites is pretty nice.  So, this is still a very useful tool, there are just better ones on the market.

Domination Weapon #5

Instant RSS feed submission to the top 16 (and growing regularly…) RSS aggregators and RSS directories on the Internet!

Rss feed submissions are highly UNERRATED.  They allow you to submit your website feed once, and everytime you add a new post, your feeds are updated, and therefore you get a new backlink to your new posts (without having to do anything).

There are other RSS feed submission tools that do way more than 16, but this is still a great start.  As your websites grow with more posts, your RSS submissions will become more and more powerful.  For added link juice, you should submit your RSS feeds to social bookmarking websites as well.

Overall, I was a bit skeptical of SE Nuke at first.  However, after taking a little more in depth look and analysis of the tools that are actually offered as a PACKAGE deal, its pretty impressive.  Individually, some of these weapons would sell for $47 to $97; while others might be free.  So, while none of the individual weapons blows me away as something revolutionary, as a package deal, I would say SE Nuke could provide significant value to your websites.

So, if you are looking for an SEO tool that will allow you to quickly pick a niche and begin generating backlinks, then SE Nuke appears to provide an excellent option.  This may be the only tool you need; however, if you decide you want more powerful individual tools (which are certainly available), you can always updgrade.
